Town Forest Management Plan
Public Information Session
Tuesday, September 28
7 pm at the Safety Complex

Featuring Charlie Moreno, licensed forester

In preparation for this plan, Mr. Moreno has done extensive field work in the 191 acre Lee Town Forest Complex.

On September 28, he will present to the citizens of Lee a management plan that he has developed for these lands.

All are welcome.

Lee Public Library
Harvest Pumpkin Workshop
Monday, October 4, 7-8 p.m.
For ages 14 & up
Create a colorful pumpkin display for your dining room or hall table using fabric and Styrofoam balls.  The pumpkins we’ll be making will be on display at the library in September.  Workshop is limited to 10 people.  Registration is required.
 
From Anonymous to Aponovich:  New Hampshire History in Art
Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Public Safety Complex
Docents from the Currier Museum of Art will present an overview of New Hampshire-based artists and/or those who have some connection to the region. Their presentation will cover artists from early colonial times through those of today.  Included in the museum’s collection is an 1836 painting by artist Joseph H. Davis featuring Lee minister and schoolteacher Bartholomew Van Dame. The Historical Society will provide some information about Van Dame at the conclusion of the Currier program. This program is sponsored by the Lee Historical Society and the Library.  Refreshments will be served.
 
Programs for Kids
Story Time
Preschool story time for ages 3-6 is held on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. This is a 40 minute program. A 30 minute toddler story time for ages 2-3 meets Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Both programs include stories, songs, finger plays, flannel board and a craft. Registration is not required.
 
After School Program
The after school program for ages 6-10 is held on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Children are introduced to a variety of authors and award winning books. A snack, games and a craft are also included. Mast Way Elementary students may make arrangements with the transportation office to take a bus directly to the library after school. Registration begins on September 13 and is required. The program resumes on Tuesday, October 5.
 
5th And 6th Grade Book Club
For 5th and 6th grade students, this club meets the first Thursday of each month from 3-4 p.m. Students will read and discuss a different book each month and will help to choose the books they read. And - pizza will be served, courtesy of Pizza Spinners! Students may make arrangements with the transportation office to take a bus directly to the library after school. If interested, please call 659-2626 to sign up. The first meeting of the year will be on Thursday, October 7.
 
Dog Days at the Library
Read with a 4 footed friend! The Lee Public Library is participating again in the Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D) Program. Dedicated to improving reading skills of children using registered Pet Partner teams as literacy mentors, this program is held the second Thursday of each month from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Children in grades K-4 can read with Lee resident, Carla Corey and her cocker spaniel, Joy. If interested in having some reading fun, talk to a librarian and sign up! The program will resume on Thursday, October 14.

Mark your calendars for Lee’s 2nd Annual Public Safety Day!

There will be a number of activities including fingerprinting, car seat safety checks and fire extinguisher training. Food and drinks will be provided. More to come…
